Summary:

A solid, well-rounded boot that is surprisingly lower priced compared to its counterparts.

Every time a woman shops, she encounters a psychological pursuit to find the “shoe that fits.” In the world of hiking shoes, female trekkers must choose from either shoes, boots, sandals or water shoes, which doesn’t include the next choice, a color scheme. With endless choices, women must eventually make a decision.  If searching for an all-inclusive shoe to get you from Point A to B, look no further than Keen’s Voyageur Mid Hiking Boot.

Functionality ★★★★
I have used this shoe for every hiking expedition ranging from easy one-mile to intense 10-mile hikes, including bouldering and scrambling up and down slippery surfaces. Along with a steady foot, the shoe’s grip saved many treacherous falls as well as many near stubbed toes thanks to the toe’s hearty outer-sole.

I believe the Voyageur is a multi-purpose boot, and is functional outside of trekking, such as being wearable for yard work and urban frolics around the snow. The only downfall to this shoe is because the mesh is present, water may seep inside the shoe; therefore, it is not 100% waterproof. I had to increase my shoe size by half, but that is common that my foot wears a bigger shoe size with fitness and hiking shoes compared to dress shoes and boots.

Design and Aesthetics ★★★★★
The Voyageur provides comfort and care to feet and ankles. This high top boot is perfect for rigorous terrain, including canyoneering, where landing on unsteady surfaces easily twist ankles. In addition, the mesh and lightweight material keep feet cool on hot days, but still insulates and warms feet on cold afternoons. The shoe provides an angelic feel on the feet, which is ideal for high-arched feet that require extra cushion.  The lining consists of moisture wicking textile, which easily dries after walking through water.

The shoe provides a modern design without looking like a mountain man. I purchased the “Drizzle/Surf Spray” color scheme, and could not be happier with my selection. If the shoe gets dirty, dirt and debris easily wipe away, and does not transform into an “old and worn out” look. The drizzle of aqua blue color splashes the shoe to provide a feminine sparkle.

Durability ★★★★★
The hiking shoe contains the Vibram technology, but don’t let the terminology fool your feet. The sole contains adequate support to last; therefore, supporting hundreds of miles of trekking. The shoe holds up in tough weather and terrain, which is ideal for spontaneous hikers who enjoy various intensities. The ankle support is fantastic and stabilizes feet atop of uneven tree roots or through uneasy river walks.

Value ★★★★★
Hiking shoes are expensive no matter the brand. However, Keen provides an excellent shoe for a reasonable price, which is more affordable than most brands that sell around $200 per pair. The ESS Shank technology provides stabilization for various terrains, and for the price consumers cannot beat the quality, design and style. I highly recommend the Voyageur to consumers who are looking for comfort without lugging around heavy shoes. If 100% waterproof is your goal, check out other Keen products.
