Review: Nuun Active (New & Improved Formula)
We were introduced to Nuun back in November of 2014 when we declared them one of our favorite outdoor companies in Washington State. When we found out they had a new formula out, we couldn’t wait to try it out! We tracked them down at Interbike 2016 and snatched some to try. Everyone in the office starting snagging em left and right!
Nuun is an expert in hydration. They are the #1 best selling sports drink tab in the cycling, running and outdoor specialty market, which makes them a favorite among our team obviously. We especially love their environmentally conscious products and packaging. So what’s up with this new formula? Nuun Active & Nuun Energy, the new formulas, helps hydrate and keep up your energy levels throughout the day and thankfully contains the same great taste, so you aren’t missing out if you get some now! Let’s break it down…
With sports drink tabs, there are three main features that matter: electrolyte replacement, how well does it dissolve, and how it tastes. Nuun Active is a tablet that dissolves in a glass of water to help you stay hydrated throughout your day. Nuun has quite a few flavors ranging from lemon+lime to strawberry lemonade. They use artificial sweeteners so the taste is not as sweet as I would prefer unfortunately, but since it contains less sugars, it’s definitely better for you and perfect for those looking for something healthy to quench your thirst!
Design and Aesthetic ★★★★★
Nuun Active, has an eye catching, modern clean design. Their waterproof tubes that the tablets come in are brightly colored and have a very cool look. If you shove these in your gym bag or in a backpack, they definitely won’t be lost for long, you’ll see it in a flash. The tube is small enough that it can fit most anywhere and is light enough to shove in your bag or purse and not be noticeable. Also the company name just rolls off the tongue and is fun to say!
At a MSRP of $7, Nuun Active comes with 10 tablets in a bottle, and is a fairly inexpensive option for active people. Using one tablet a day, this is roughly a two-week supply and makes a great choice. Also the energy from a tablet is plenty to last a day in the gym or in the office. The only complaint you’ll have is when you run out!
